What is a Plot Worksheet?
A plot worksheet is a tool used by writers to organize and develop their story's plot. It provides a framework for outlining the key events, character arcs, and plot twists that drive the narrative forward. By filling out a plot worksheet, you can ensure that your story has a clear structure, cohesive pacing, and a satisfying resolution.
How to Use a Plot Worksheet
To get the most out of a plot worksheet, follow these steps:
- Identify the story's genre and theme: Determine the genre and theme of your story to help you focus on the key elements that will drive the plot.
- Determine the main character's goal: Identify the protagonist's main goal or desire, which will serve as the driving force behind the plot.
- Outline the inciting incident: Describe the event that sets the story in motion and sets the protagonist on their journey.
- Create a list of plot points: Develop a list of key events that will take the protagonist from the inciting incident to the climax of the story.
- Develop the character arcs: Outline the changes that the protagonist and other main characters will undergo throughout the story.
- Outline the climax and resolution: Describe the climax of the story, including the turning point and the resolution that follows.
